As plans for waste treatment and waste-to-energy plants gain fruition, Otjiwarongo Municipality has engaged Germany's GIZ and its City Climate Gap Fund for resources to execute its development goals.
Through the City Climate Gap Fund, administered through GIZ in collaboration with the African Development Bank, Otjiwarongo stands to benefit from the construction of a waste treatment and waste-to-energy plant.
The Centre will merge with the Namibia Biomass Group.
There's however no regulation or an act in Namibia that directly talks to waste management.
In terms of waste disposal, the Ministry of Environment, Forestry, and Tourism has developed a strategy that indicates standards as to how the waste management disposal site should be managed and operated.
