The Christiaan Royal House has unanimously resolved to designate Nathaniel Christiaan as the new captain of the Bondelswarts tribe.

Traditional Councillor Amalia Alberts says the application for Christiaan's designation has already been forwarded to relevant authorities for processing.

The Bondelswarts Chief, Anna Katrina Christiaan, died in 2011, who was succeeded by Josef Christian as acting chief.

In 2015, Josef Christian died in a freak road accident at Karasburg, and the clan has been without a chief ever since.

Activities of the clan are currently managed by the chiefs' council, which is now in the process of coronating a new chief pending government approval.

"The Chief Council has then called a Chief Council meeting on the 10th of October 2024 and has approved the request by the Christiaan Royal House. The application for the designation of Nathaniel Christiaan was already forwarded to the governor for processing. The Chief Council is now awaiting the legal processes of the government in accordance with the Traditional Authorities Act to be finalised and the recognition of the Gaob designated Nathaniel Christiaan by the government to coronate him legally."

The Bondelswarts Chiefs' Council reassured members that despite the absence of a chief, the council will continue to work for the benefit of all members of the Bondelswarts community.
