The Namibian Breweries Limited (NBL) with Discoveries Airlines celebrates its 64th edition of Windhoek Oktoberfest.

The predominantly German cultural festival, well known as the Windhoek Oktoberfest, is a fun fest that brings together families and friends to celebrate cultural diversity in Namibia.

The Managing Director of NBL, Peter Simons, highlighted what an event of this magnitude means to the company.

Held annually on the 25th and 26th of October, the gathering saw over 5,000 people in attendance.

The cultural festival shows similarities to the one celebrated in Munich, where women waitresses wear traditional dirndl dresses and the men wear lederhosen.

Additionally, the Kirchdorferband, which is the main band that performs at the Munich festival, also brought in an entertainment element.

Traditional German delicacies of grilled chicken, huge pretzels, and pork knuckles are the cuisine at the festival.

Adding a certain local flavour to the festival is the Namibian band Famaz Attak and the long-established activities and games such as archery and tree trunk sawing.

Throughout the year, the NBL brews Hansa Beer specifically for the October festival and serves it in steins.
