Namibia reaffirmed its commitment to justice, equality, and dignity for all as the world marks Human Rights Day.

The day coincides with Namibian Women's Day.

In a statement to commemorate the two significant days, President Mbumba rallied Namibians to honor the struggles of the past and work together to build a future where the rights of everyone are respected.

He says this year marks a historic milestone in Namibia’s democracy with the election of the first female president-elect, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, adding that this demonstrates the country's commitment to women's empowerment and gender equality.

The commemoration of Namibian Women's Day, he says, is a reminder of the immense sacrifices made by women during the struggle for liberation to secure equal rights and opportunities across all spheres of society.

The Head of State reiterated the role of women as cornerstones of communities and key drivers of change for the country towards greater heights.

Dr. Mbumba further implored Namibians to take decisive steps to promote and protect human rights as a cornerstone for shaping an inclusive and sustainable future.

Human Rights Day is being commemorated under the theme "Our Right, Our Future, Right Now."

President Mbumba also urged Namibians to recommit themselves to eliminating all forms of gender-based violence, which compromises the safety, dignity, and well-being of people, particularly women.
