Lawyer Sisa Namandje has challenged Sport, Youth, and National Service Minister Agnes Tjongarero's decision to fire board members of the National Youth Council (NYC), calling it unlawful.

Namandje argues that the board members were not given a chance to defend themselves and says there is no evidence they broke the law. He claims the decision has disrupted the NYC’s General Assembly and harmed the interests of Namibian youth.

He is demanding that the board members be reinstated or that the decision be suspended until a court review is filed in January 2025.

Namandje warned that if the minister does not respond by December 15, he will seek an urgent court order to stop the decision and ensure the General Assembly continues.

The minister issued a statement on Saturday, in which she fired all board members of the National Youth Council, citing several reasons.

The nbc understands that a court application has been filed with the High Court, which is expected to be heard soon.
