As part of measures to ensure law and order during the festive season, the police will dispatch 19 police dogs to eight regions to help in the fight against crime over this period.
The Inspector General of the Police made this revelation during an inspection at the Okapuka Roadblock.
Of the 19 K9 dogs, five will be for the |Khomas Region, while the ||Kharas and Zambezi regions will each receive three dogs.
Oshikoto, Oshana, and Kunene regions will each get two, while Kavango East and Ohangwena regions will each get one.
The purpose of the Inspector General's inspection visit at the roadblock was to speak to those travelling on the importance of adhering to road rules and safety measures.
At the roadblock, a search was also carried out with the dogs to ensure that members of the public were not transporting any illegal goods.
