Social justice activist Jimmy ||Areseb, chairman of a group protesting against Chief of the Daure Daman Sagarias Seibeb, is set to appear at the Omaruru Magistrate's Court today, following his arrest on Saturday.

||Areseb faces charges of obstructing the administration of justice, interfering with police officers executing their duties, and contravening the Riotous Assembly Act. 

His arrest came after he and a group of demonstrators refused to leave the Daure Daman Traditional Authority office in |Uis, demanding a meeting with Chief Seibeb.

The protestors, including senior citizens, were forcibly removed by the Namibian Police Force Special Reserve Force following a court-ordered eviction. The group accuses Chief Seibeb of nepotism, self-enrichment, and granting an Exploration Prospecting License (EPL) to the Chinese mining company Xingfeng under alleged sketchy circumstances.

Chief Seibeb has denied the allegations, stating that his efforts to engage the group have been repeatedly rebuffed. Seibeb is scheduled to meet with the community on Tuesday to address the ongoing concerns.
