Ghana made history on Tuesday by inaugurating that country’s first woman vice president, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang (73).

During the swearing-in ceremony, Opoku-Agyemang pledged to uphold the Constitution and committed to advancing Ghana's development agenda.

Opoku-Agyemang earned her Bachelor of Education in English and French from the University of Cape Coast, followed by a Master's and Ph.D. from York University in Toronto, Canada.

In the December 2024 elections, Opoku-Agyemang was selected as President John Mahama's running mate on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ticket.
