The Inspector General of the Namibian Police, Lieutenant General Josef Shikongo, has issued a stern warning against individuals inciting violence ahead of the January 15 National Assembly elections court challenge.

Shikongo said that the police will not tolerate any form of violence and urged all citizens to respect and accept the decisions of the courts.

He also revealed that the police have identified certain Namibians living abroad who are allegedly inciting unrest. "Perhaps they are under the impression that they are immune," Shikongo remarked, adding that such actions would not be ignored.

"The Namibian Police, in collaboration with other security sectors, will not allow intimidation, violence, or chaos to disrupt the peace and order of the nation," he said.

The police chief further said, "Some are saying let us turn Namibia into Mozambique; peace is really a sweet thing, and we will not allow destruction."

Shikongo urged political leaders and all stakeholders to discourage such actions, stating that NamPol has deployed police officers across the country for this period.
