The inaugural session of the official visit by a delegation from the Provincial Government of Cunene, Angola, signifies a significant step toward enhancing bilateral cooperation and shared initiatives between Namibia and Angola.

Governor of the |Khomas Region, Laura McLeod-Katjirua, stated that the visit by the Angolan delegation to Namibia strengthens fruitful engagement and fosters a lasting impact, promoting cooperation under the twinning agreement.

The framework of the twinning agreement includes the following key areas: education and health, municipal services, economic developments, agriculture and forestry, training and development of staff members and exchange programmes, modern administration, community development, trades, youth and sport, energy and water, arts and culture, tourism, environmental protection, social services, and housing.

This comprehensive framework aims to foster familiarisation, collaboration, knowledge sharing, and sustainable growth among the partnering entities.

The Governor of Cunene Province, Gerdina Didalelwa, expressed gratitude towards the Namibian delegation for the opportunity and hospitality to partner. 

Governor Didalelwa also stated that the governing sector, historical, cultural, and political relationships, if well maintained, can create a stronger partnership to explore both regions. 

She added that the visit is to cooperate in areas of interest alluded to in the twinning agreement and that this is very important for the people of the Cunene Province.

The delegation toured the Water Reclamation Plant, the City of Windhoek Healthcare Risk Waste Facility, the Katutura Waste Buy-Back Centre, Water Provision Projects, Rural Sanitation Projects, Agriculture Community Projects, and Farmers Support Programmes, just to mention a few, to gain a comprehensive understanding of the operations of the institutions referenced in the twinning agreement and set to tour around the Independence Memorial Museum today to explore Namibian Colonial History, Heritage, and Culture.
