In recent developments in the energy sector, TotalEnergies held consultations in Lüderitz as part of the environmental impact assessment process.

This process is a crucial step in their plans for oil exploration in the Orange Basin, located off the coast of Namibia.

This week, TotalEnergies conducted consultations with residents of

Lüderitz, with similar consultations planned for Walvis Bay.

The aim of these consultations is to gather and assess key issues, concerns, and potential expectations among broader stakeholders regarding the possible future operations of the Joint Venture Partners.

This feedback will serve as the baseline for developing further consultations.

TotalEnergies EP Namibia is performing engineering duties on behalf of its joint venture partners, namely TEEPNA, QatarEnergy, Impact, and Namcor, to determine the viability of a potential offshore development that could lead to the production of the Venus field.

This follows the Venus offshore discovery in February 2022 and the subsequent appraisal activities conducted so far.

TEEPNA has engaged the Southern African Institute for Environmental Assessment to undertake environmental and social scoping.
