The Cabinet endorsed a decision that the government consider hosting an event to signify Namibia's firm commitment to the future of the Women, Peace, and Security Agenda.

The event is expected to feature international and national stakeholders.

Cabinet directed the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation to establish a Silver 25th Anniversary of UN Security Council Resolution—UNSCR 1325 on Women, Peace, and Security Planning, with senior and other officials from key ministries.

The year 2025 marks the 25th anniversary of UNSCR 1325.

The day calls for the meaningful participation of women in negotiations and peace-building processes to ensure lasting and inclusive peace.

Namibia developed a stand-alone Namibia Plan of Action on Women's Peace and Security, which was adopted in 2019.

In 2020, an International Women Peace Centre was launched as a way of enhancing Namibia's contribution to the implementation of UNSCR 1325 and in commemoration of the anniversary of the resolution.

The centre housed at the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation is currently being renovated.
