The National Arts Council of Namibia (NACN) has launched a new logo as part of its rebranding efforts, signaling a renewed commitment to supporting and growing the country’s arts sector. The modern, adaptable design ensures the NACN’s identity remains impactful across all platforms.
Speaking at the launch, Deputy Minister of Education, Arts and Culture, Faustina Caley, emphasized that the rebranding will enhance the council’s ability to deliver on its mandate. This includes providing strategic grants, bursaries, and fostering partnerships to support artists and creatives.
“Today, the NACN is embarking on a journey of transformation, a journey that will see the arts sector not only grow but flourish in new and exciting ways. This rebranding is a symbol of that transformation, representing greater access to resources, more collaboration, and an unwavering commitment to the creative spirit of Namibia. Our logo, crafted with care and creativity, is not just a symbol but a statement,” Caley said.
The new logo reflects NACN’s core values of trust, creativity, inclusivity, and collaboration. Kunashe Manyame, Communication Designer at Turipamwe Design Agency, explained the thought process behind the design: “These values are the heart of NACN’s work, and we’ve ensured they are reflected in every visual element of the brand. The strength of the logo, the clarity of the typography, and the vibrancy of the colors all come together to reinforce these principles. Through this brand, we’re not just creating a visual identity, we’re reflecting a community of artists, stakeholders, and audiences who will shape the future of Namibian art.”
The logo launch coincided with the unveiling of a new NACN website, which will serve as a central hub for funding opportunities, events, and resources. Cisle Jacobs, Chairperson of NACN, highlighted the website’s user-friendly design, aimed at making it easier for creatives to access information. “The new website will be the go-to hub for funding, events, and resources. No more questions like, ‘Where do I find the form?’ or ‘When is this due?’ It’s a seamless, user-friendly platform designed with you in mind,” Jacobs said.
The NACN’s rebranding and new initiatives aim to develop and support programs that ensure the continued practice of all art forms in Namibia. These efforts are designed to enrich the country’s national heritage and unify Namibians through the power of the arts.
