The Capricorn Eagles have officially been sent off as they head to Uganda for a high-stakes quadrangular tournament.

Running from March 5th to 18th, the tournament will feature Namibia competing against Uganda, Hong Kong, and Nepal in T20 International (T20I) matches.

With strong backing from Cricket Namibia, government officials, and sponsors, the team is determined to make history.

Marlize Horn, Capricorn Group Executive for Brand and Corporate Affairs, expressed excitement about the team’s journey, highlighting the remarkable growth of women’s cricket in Namibia. She proudly affirmed that Capricorn Group is honored to support the team.

Cricket Namibia CEO Johan Muller emphasized the crucial role of rallying behind the team, stating that the support from sponsors, government, and fans has been transformative for women’s cricket in Namibia. He further added that this unity has enabled the team to reach new heights and compete on bigger stages.

Hon. Dr. Emma Kantema, Deputy Minister of Sport, praised the diversity within the team, noting it as an inspiring example for young girls across Namibia.

Eagles captain, Sune Wittmann, confidently stated that the team is well-prepared and ready to take on the competition. She added that their ultimate aim is to become the first Namibian women’s team to qualify for a World Cup.

With the nation’s support behind them, the Capricorn Eagles are now focused on delivering a strong performance in Uganda.
