Namibians across the country have been invited to be part of the country's 35th Independence Day celebrations that will be held at the Independence Stadium in Windhoek on Friday.
Giving an update on the preparations, the Minister of Information and Communications Technology, Emma Theofelus, said the preparations for the country's 35th Independence celebration and inauguration of the 5th President on 21 March, is in full swing and the progress is satisfactory.
Minister Emma Theofelus says, all logistics for the celebration are well on track, and considerations to cater for elements out of the government's control, such as the weather on that day and the exact number of people to attend, are being considered to the government's best ability.
"Transportation arrangements have been made for the residents of the |Khomas Region to attend the celebration, and a detailed list has already been released from MICT circulating and indicating the pickup points from all the 10 constituencies in the Khomas region. If any public member has no knowledge of this information, we encourage you to visit your constituency office and get this information from your constituency councillor. Pick-up points will be from 5 a.m., and all residents and members of the public are expected to be at the stadium at 07:30."
She also added that the government has received confirmation from foreign delegations, made up of Heads of State, former Heads of State, and other dignitaries.
"The confirmed states are made up of 10 Heads of State, three Vice Presidents, seven former Heads of State, and two Prime Ministers. I would also like to inform you that the list has not been exhausted; we continue to receive confirmation, and adjustments will be made. We will announce the full list of countries represented at our celebration later today or tomorrow."
The Country's Defence Force also takes a leading part in the celebrations.
As part of the celebration, she says, a choreography showcasing Namibia's rich diversity of various cultures and traditions has been put together.
