President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has announced a sweeping restructuring of government ministries and agencies aimed at streamlining operations and improving efficiency. 

The new government will consist of 14 ministries and seven deputy ministers.

The Ministry of Industrialisation and Trade will merge with the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation to consolidate trade and diplomatic efforts. 

The Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources will be integrated into the Ministry of Agriculture, bringing all natural resource-based economic sectors under one entity.

Higher Education and Sports will now fall under the Ministry of Education, unifying the country’s education and training sectors. 

The Ministry of Mines and Energy will be renamed the Ministry of Mines, Energy, and Industry, reflecting an expanded focus on industrial development. The functions of marginalised communities and disabled people will now be housed under the Office of the Vice President to ensure better coordination of social inclusion policies. 

The Ministry of Labour will merge with the Ministry of Justice, a move expected to enhance labour rights enforcement and streamline legal processes. 

The Ministry of Finance and Public Enterprises will take over the management of social welfare programs, aligning them with fiscal policy and public enterprise oversight.
