After making his way through a rigorous public interview process that was publicised live on the national TV, Magistrate Makapa Simasiku now joins the ranks of the judiciary as an Acting Judge of the High Court.

His appointment was confirmed by the Judicial Service Commission and endorsed by President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah.

On the 14th of March 2025, Simasiku stood before a five-member panel of the Judicial Service Commission, where he declared his commitment to justice, emphasising his experience of over 16 years in the magistracy.

During the public interview Simasiku related his journey as characterised by refined dedication and excellence in the judiciary.

His interview performance impressed the panel that it cleared the way for his seat on the bench.

Simasiku, worked as a Regional Court Magistrate since July 2018 and has earned himself a reputation and and excellent understanding of the law.

This appointment is therefore a feather in the cap for him, covering the period from 1 May to 31 August 2025.

The appointment marks Simasiku's first experience on the High Court Bench.

His appointment comes as the judiciary, from its end, is busy strengthening its human capacity to handle rising caseloads in criminal and civil matters.
