The directive comes from Archbishop Liborius Nashenda, President of the Namibian Catholic Bishops’ Conference (NCBC), according to the NCBC’s Director of Communications, Father Veranus Shiimi.

Father Shiimi told NBC News on Tuesday that a memorial Mass will also be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Cathedral in Windhoek tomorrow evening at 18:00.

He said most of the funeral preparations will take place in Rome.

Reuters reported that Cardinals gathered at the Vatican today to plan for the funeral.

The Vatican has announced that the Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, April 26 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Peter’s Square.

On Wednesday, Pope Francis’ coffin will be moved from the chapel of Casa Santa Marta to St. Peter’s Basilica, where the public will be able to pay their respects.

Pope Francis, who dedicated his life to serving the Lord and the Catholic Church, passed away yesterday in Rome at the age of 88.
