The Deputy Minister of Defence and Veterans Affairs, Dr. Charles Mubita, has said the ministry will need about N$2 billion to make a once-off cash payment to the 16,000 unpaid veterans of the liberation struggle. 

He said this while responding to suggestions and questions regarding the ministry's budget motivation for Veterans Affairs, which amounts to over N$1.5 billion.

Among the suggestions from MPs was to look into a once-off cash payment to war veterans instead of project funding.

Others' suggestion was to look into the sustainability of the fund.
