President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has encouraged parents and guardians to allow their children to join Girl Guides across the country, emphasizing that the Girl Guide Association of Namibia offers essential guidance and discipline.

Speaking at the Thinking Day celebration of the Girl Guides Association of Namibia at Ongwediva Elcin Church in the Oshana region, President Nandi-Ndaitwah reflected on the theme 'Our

Story.' As a former Girl Guide herself, she shared how the experience profoundly shaped her life, instilling values of selflessness and a spirit of service to others without expecting anything in return.

As the association's patron, the president noted that its dedicated guidance fosters inclusivity, welcoming individuals from diverse religious backgrounds. She also urged boys to participate in Boy Scouts.

Highlighting the alarming rate of gender-based violence, she referenced recent murders in Okahandja as a pressing social issue that can be addressed.

The president called for support for the association's initiatives and encouraged Girl Guides to serve vulnerable members of their communities, particularly the elderly.

She commended the impactful role of Girl Guides in Namibia and beyond, noting their positive influence in instilling values and empowering young people to make beneficial decisions regarding their lives.

The association's chief commissioner reiterated the commitment to nurturing Girl Guides from an early age, equipping them to make informed decisions about their lives and livelihoods.

The annual event attracted approximately 600 Girl Guides in attendance.
