The Namibian Broadcasting Corporation has recommitted to allocating free broadcasting airtime to political parties participating in the upcoming by-elections in five constituencies, scheduled for 17 June.
Each candidate or political party will be given the opportunity to air two messages on both television and radio, each lasting three minutes.
Candidates or political parties may use all 11 radio services or only those that reach their target audiences.
The free airtime will run from 9 June to 14 June and will be aired on NBC1 at 18:50.
Political parties may also purchase airtime on both TV and radio for five to ten minutes outside the free airtime offered.
From 15 to 16 June, there will be no political messages aired due to the legally mandated blackout period.
NBC will also provide news coverage for two star rallies per party.
The national broadcaster held a meeting with political parties in Windhoek today (Wednesday).
