Oryx Properties has awarded bursaries worth N$75,000 to three students at the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST), supporting their studies in property finance.

This marks the third time the company has funded local students. CEO Ben Jooste says the programme aims to give students a full view of the business.

"So we are very excited about this; it's a journey that Oryx is on," Jooste said. "The idea about the program is really for every bursary student and graduate to explore and get insights into the different facets of our business."

Jooste added that some former bursary students have joined Oryx full-time and are performing well.

"At the end of the two-year period, you're going to have a great idea about what Oryx is about, whether that is on the operational portion, the financing portion, or the asset management portion," he said.

One of the beneficiaries, Laurika Ashipala, said she is eager to grow within the industry.

"My expectations for this bursary program are just to gain industry insights, seeing that I'm very passionate about the industry," she said. "I hope that I can become an impactful and meaningful asset at Oryx Properties."

Another student, Rauna Shagama, thanked Oryx for the opportunity.

"I'm very eager to learn and grow and also positively contribute to Oryx Properties," she said.
