President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has described the recent military strikes carried out by Israel against Iran's nuclear and civilian infrastructure as an act that constitutes a flagrant violation of that country's sovereign and territorial integrity.

President Nandi-Ndaitwah, in a statement, said that Israel's military strikes further represent a breach of international law, including the Charter of the United Nations.

Article 2(4) of the UN Charter specifically prohibits the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state.

The President stressed that the destabilisation may have severe repercussions not just for the countries directly involved but also for global stability, particularly concerning energy markets.

President Nandi-Ndaitwah called on all parties to exercise maximum restraint and pursue a diplomatic resolution through multilateral platforms, including those of the UN.

She reaffirmed Namibia's commitment to the principles of sovereignty and encouraged the international community and the UN Security Council to re-engage all stakeholders in a dialogue to de-escalate tensions.
