The 2025 Regional Councils and Local Authorities elections will take place on the 26th of November, with Special Voting for electoral officials and uniformed personnel set for November 24th, National Council Chairperson Lucas Muha announced.
Muha called for robust voter education, expressing concern over the declining voter turnout observed in recent years.
He also praised Namibia’s reputation as a stable democracy committed to peaceful and transparent electoral processes.
Muha described Namibia as a beacon of democratic excellence, crediting both the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) and citizens for ensuring violence-free elections since the country’s first polls in 1989. He commended the ECN for its role in delivering credible and transparent elections.
The 2025 elections will see Namibians elect new representatives to regional councils and local authorities across the country. Muha urged all stakeholders, including political parties and the media, to support peaceful and inclusive participation throughout the electoral cycle.
The official election calendar outlines the timelines for voter registration, candidate nominations, campaigning, and polling.
