President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has convened a two-day induction workshop for regional governors, aimed at equipping them with the necessary knowledge and tools to effectively carry out their roles in governance.

Presidential Adviser Christine ||Hoebes welcomed the participants, emphasising the importance of the workshop in ensuring governors are fully prepared to lead and remain cognisant of the President's call for a change of pace from "business as usual". 

The Minister of Urban and Rural Development, James Sankwasa, provided a detailed induction on the overview of governance, the structure of governors, policies and legal frameworks at the regional level. 

He stressed that governors play a critical role in bridging national priorities with local implementation. 

Newly appointed governors engaged actively in the discussions.

Former governors were also in attendance, offering valuable insights and sharing lessons learnt from their time in office. 

Their contributions formed a key part of the induction process, ensuring continuity and practical understanding.

The workshop will continue through to Thursday, the 3rd of June, with various sessions planned on governance frameworks, development planning, and intergovernmental coordination.
