The SADC Senior Officials' Meeting for the 27th Ordinary Meeting of the Ministerial Committee of the Organ (MCO) started in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

The meeting is expected to review, among other things, progress made in implementing decisions from previous MCO meetings, the Council of Ministers, and the Summit of Heads of State and Government. It will also assess the political situation and the consolidation of democracy and good governance in the SADC region.

This two-day meeting of senior officials precedes the 27th Ordinary Meeting of the MCO, which will officially open on Thursday, July 24, 2025.

Namibia's delegation is headed by Ambassador Jerobeam Shaanika, Deputy Executive Director and Head of the Multilateral Relations and Cooperation Department at the Ministry of International Relations and Trade (MIRT).

Also participating in this meeting are Namibian High Commissioner to Tanzania Lebius Tobias; Namibian High Commissioner to Botswana and Representative to SADC Elizabeth Kakukuru; Executive Director of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration (MHAISS) Étienne Maritz; and Lieutenant General Joseph Shikongo, Inspector General of the Namibian Police Force (NAMPOL); as well as other senior officials from the security cluster.
