Namibian striker Peter Shalulile has made history at Athlone Stadium, scoring a penalty just before halftime against Stellenbosch FC to reach 130 career goals in PSL history.

Namibian striker Peter Shalulile has become the Premier Soccer League's (PSL) all-time leading goalscorer, surpassing Siyabonga Nomvethe's long-standing record of 129 goals.

Shalulile achieved the milestone on Saturday afternoon at Athlone Stadium when he converted a penalty for Mamelodi Sundowns against Stellenbosch FC just before halftime.

The goal took his career tally in South Africa's top-flight league to 130 goals, cementing his place in PSL history.

The 31-year-old, who began his PSL career with Highlands Park before joining Sundowns in 2020, has built a reputation as one of the most prolific and hardworking strikers in Southern African football.

He has won multiple Golden Boot awards, contributed to Sundowns' domestic dominance, and consistently delivered on the continental stage in the CAF Champions League.

Shalulile's record is seen as a significant milestone not only for South African football but also for Namibia, where he is regarded as a national icon and an inspiration for young players.

His achievement comes at a time when Sundowns continue to assert their dominance in South African football, with Shalulile playing a central role in their pursuit of silverware both locally and abroad.
