President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has officially assumed responsibility for the Ministry of Industries, Mines, and Energy following the dismissal of Natangue Ithete from his ministerial and deputy prime ministerial roles.
Presidential Press Secretary Jonas Mbambo stated that the public will be kept informed of any developments at the ministry.
Mbambo maintains that President Nandi-Ndaitwah's takeover of the Ministry remains in the interest of ensuring continuity and effective coordination within this key sector, given its strategic importance.
Upon assuming her new role, President Nandi-Ndaitwah engaged with the ministry’s management to review the past seven months’ performance and familiarise herself with the ministry’s operations. She later met with the general staff to introduce herself and set expectations, reminding them of their roles as civil servants whose work impacts every Namibian’s life.
Mbambo emphasised the president’s message that staff should appreciate their jobs as livelihoods and recognise the importance of their work in achieving national development objectives. Until further notice, she will lead the ministry, steering it as a cornerstone of Namibia’s resource management and economic growth.
