The Chairperson of the Aminuis Community Forest, Karihangana Kamburona, is pleased with the progress made by the community forest project in the constituency since its inception in August.
After getting permission, Kamburona announced that the delayed firewood harvesting due to paperwork can now commence.
The project has created job opportunities for the locals, especially for the youth who are the majority participants in the project.
Kamburona said if well managed, the project will boost the domestic economy and reduce dependency on livestock alone. The market looks very stable for now, as local and outside traders are very much interested in wood products.
The Senior Forester in the Directorate of Forestry, Vetuundja Kazapua, applauded the Aminuis residents for their hard work. He added that "Otjombinde plus Omuramba is one of the community forests that work hard, and they want this project. The caution is that the management body should ensure that they comply with the regulations; they need to manage their finances properly; they need to present a report."
Maharero Traditional Authority Senior Councillor commended the government for a job well done and for creating opportunities for the people.
Sam Muriambihu also proposed the extension of the boundaries of the project.
