The Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism (MEFT) extended gratitude to all stakeholders for their participation in the environmental awareness campaign and for making it a success.
The campaign, which took place from the 3rd to the 23rd of December, engaged road users in waste management and improved cleanliness in towns.
Riaan Solomon, the Chief Warden in MEFT, said, "The reason why we do it this time of the year is that there are many activities taking place; there are many parties, and people are travelling from one destination to another where they are having holidays. We are trying to get road users to stop throwing waste out of their vehicles, as this process generates a lot of waste."
Solomon encouraged the public to always participate, set self-discipline and ensure cleanliness of the environment and their surroundings and improve the country's image while keeping diseases at bay.
Parties to the campaign are ministries, local authorities and regional councils that put resources and ideas together.
