43-year-old truck driver Robbert Amutenya, who allegedly blocked traffic in Orwetoveni after refusing a breathalyser test, appeared in the Otjiwarongo Magistrate's Court today.

Magistrate Jianni Beukes granted him N$1,500 bail after the court initially requested N$7,000, which Amutenya said he could not afford, explaining he had only recently started working for the charcoal transportation company.

Amutenya is charged with failing to comply with a traffic officer's instructions after being asked for his driver's licence, which he refused to provide.

Amutenya told the court he believes the charges do not match what happened at the scene, but he was informed he can only address the matter during trial proceedings.

He is expected to appear in Otjiwarongo Magistrate's Court on 2 March 2026.
