The ||Kharas Governor Youth Desk handed over donations to families in Aussenkher affected by the December fire. 

The humanitarian initiative aims to provide support to the victims as they begin to rebuild their lives.

The fire destroyed 56 households in Aussenkher last December, leaving  many families homeless.

In response, the ||Kharas Governor's Youth desk mobilised resources such as food parcels, clothes and other essentials, which they donated to the affected families..

First National Bank, ||Kharas Regional Council staff members, various community members, and the Swapo Party all contributed. 

Dawid Gertze, Governor of ||Kharas Region says, "You have demonstrated ubuntu; we care, and a caring nation is a nation that moves forward, and a caring nation is a community that tells the nation that I feel together with you, I feel for you, and that there is hope for tomorrow as long as we stand alongside one another. What is the road ahead? I can't say we are going to give you all."

The Chairperson of the ||Kharas Regional Council , Gerrit Witbooi commended all the donors.

"This support brings relief, dignity and encouragement to families as they begin this difficult process of rebuilding their lives. To the affected families, we admired your strength and resilience, may this donations ease some of your needs and remind you that your community partners stand with you as you recover and move forward."

Beneficiaries had this to say.

"The donations the people gave to us help better, even though we didn't get enough of what we have lost , but we are receiving from the people are giving donations at least we are going forward."

" First I want to thank the heavenly father for the help that we have received to help us through this difficult time. We have received food and now there is food for the baby to eat and for that I want to say thank you."

The Governor says his office will engage various institutions to address the recurring fire outbreaks.
