The programme, Teaching at the Right Level Namibia, hosted a two-day workshop in Nkurenkuru, aimed at strengthening early grade learning and addressing gaps in reading and mathematics among primary school learners.

The design of the Teaching at the Right Level Namibia programme expedites the transfer of knowledge from teachers to learners.

Workshops aim to improve early grade learning through learner-centred and evidence-based teaching methods.

Kavango West Chief Education Officer for Diagnostic Advisory Training Services, Florian Tshimweetheleni, stressed to attendees the need for practical sessions to address learning gaps, particularly in reading and basic mathematics.

Country Director Angelica Towne Amporo said the programme uses simple assessments to support learners and was active in 10 regions, reaching over 42,000 learners. 

Plans are to expand it nationwide by 2030.

Teachers and education officers who attended acknowledged the programme's positive impact on both classroom teaching and the administration of education. 

Following the training in Nkurenkuru, participants will travel to Botswana for benchmarking and knowledge exchange.
