The Swakopmund municipality has officially launched a prototype of the meeting island at Hanganeni Playground, with an investment of N$1.8 million spread over two years. 

This initiative marks another significant milestone in the town's drive to become a smart city and promote sustainability, supported by a partnership funded by NAKOPA between the Swakopmund Municipality and the City of Giessen.

The initiative also introduced solar installation and maintenance training at COSDEC, where ten students received protective gear and technical equipment to strengthen practical renewable energy skills.
