Omaalala Primary School in the Oshana Region's Ongwediva Constituency received about 100 desks and chairs courtesy of the Rossing Foundation in support of the Governor's School Furniture Project.

The donation forms part of ongoing efforts to promote quality and inclusive education across the region while providing a conducive teaching and learning environment.

The Chairperson of the Rossing Foundation, Gida Sekandi, emphasised that learners spend most of their time at school seated behind desks.

He says the importance of proper furniture, conducive to their health, comfort and maintained concentration, cannot be underestimated.

"The Governor's School Furniture Project is more than just an investment in desks and chairs. It is truly an investment in the future of every child who will sit in these classrooms and dream big. Classroom furniture is essential for creating a conducive learning environment. It reduces fatigue and back strain, enabling learners to learn comfortably and effectively."

She further noted that the occasion should serve as a reminder that true development is not measured by infrastructure or resources alone, but by the meaningful impact made in people's lives.

Governor Hofni Iipinge thanked the Rossing Foundation, saying the donation demonstrates a shared responsibility and collective commitment to the future of Namibian children.

"I wish to assure the Foundation that these items will be delivered directly to Omaalala Primary School and utilised for their intended purpose. We are committed to ensuring proper use, maintenance, and accountability so that this investment continues to benefit learners for years to come."

The Governor further emphasised that their shared vision is simple yet powerful: every child deserves a conducive learning environment, every classroom must inspire excellence, and every partnership must yield measurable impact.

The School Head Girl, Maria Martin, expressed profound gratitude for the gesture, noting the support would inspire learners to dream bigger and work harder.

"This kind gesture is not just about desks and chairs but about dignity, comfort, and the opportunity to learn in a conducive environment. For us learners, this proper furniture will improve our concentration and overall learning experience."

Omaalala Primary School has 504 learners from pre-primary to Grade 7.
