A new primary school will soon be constructed in Otumborombonga Village, Okakarara Rural constituency.

The construction of the school is funded by Primary School Garden Gemeinnützige UG, a German non-profit organisation focused on environmental protection, education, and sustainable agriculture.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Otjozondjupa Governor John ||Khamuseb said when completed, the school will help address decongested classrooms at the Okahitua and Waterberg schools.

"Many learners in this area have had to travel long distances daily to access education. With the establishment of this school in Otumborombonga, these long and exhausting journeys will soon come to an end. Our young learners will now be able to attend school closer to their homes, remain under the care and support of their parents and community, and improve attendance and academic performance, all while strengthening the social fabric of the community."

The school, which will be built on land donated by the late Adelheid Kahorongo, will have four classrooms, a staff room, storage and sanitation facilities.

The school will be named after Kahorongo, as proposed by the governor.

Donors are confident that the construction of the school will create a conducive learning environment for the learners.

"It is intended to be a very special place. It will be a beautiful school where children can learn naturally and feel at home, hopefully, and it's a school created to expand the horizons of its learners, a place where students feel connected to the wild world beyond," said Peter Stricker.
