Kapako Villagers in the Kavango West Region are fed up with the worsening water shortage.
Through protests, residents say the situation has affected children's education and daily lives, calling for urgent action to address the water scarcity.
The group's spokesperson, Abraham Mulekesa, said due to water shortage, the 755 learners at Kapako Combined School are released daily just after ten o'clock in the morning.
This, Mulekesa said, deprives learners of education, as classes have to be shortened, which may lead to poor academic performance.
The school caters for grades zero through nine.
Kapako Combined School Principal Zefania Siwoko confirmed that the school is indeed facing water scarcity.
Siwoko said the ministry plans to drill a borehole at the school as a long-term solution.
The borehole, drilled before independence, has become unreliable, forcing people to collect water from the river.
Apart from the school, the Kapako clinic is also affected; however, the health directorate fetches water for the patients whenever it depletes.
The Kapako Constituency office is also affected, but the damage is due to electrical cable theft.
