The Namibia Special Risks Insurance Association (NASRIA) handed over N$17 million in dividends to the government following another profitable financial year.

NASRIA Deputy Chairperson Birgit Hoffman attributed its strong financial performance to investment returns, product sales and the expansion of its services beyond Namibia.

The handover followed NASRIA's Annual General Meeting for the financial year ended March 31, 2026, where the board reported on its performance and progress during the year.

Receiving the cheque, Oscar Capelao, Executive Director at the Ministry of Finance, congratulated the NASRIA board and management for producing audited financial statements and holding its AGM within the required six-month period after the end of the financial year.

He also noted the company's profitability, tax contribution and corporate social responsibility activities across the country.

NASRIA's financial position also remained strong during the year, with growth recorded in its assets, investments and equity.

Capelao encouraged other public enterprises to strengthen corporate governance by holding their AGMs on time, producing audited financial statements and focusing on profitability, tax contributions and dividend payments.

NASRIA has said its ongoing expansion, particularly its entry into Botswana via Botsria, is expected to increase its contribution to the Namibian economy.

The dividend forms part of the government's broader revenue collection through the State Revenue Fund, which supports national development priorities and the social budget.
