The Public Service Commission has called for stronger collaboration with regional leadership to address human resource challenges and improve public service delivery.
Commission Chairperson Patrick Nandango made the call during a courtesy visit to the regional leadership ahead of a stakeholder engagement with various ministries.
“So we are here to listen, and we are here to understand the realities of the region and to see how the commission can work more closely with regional leadership towards effective public administration and service delivery.”
The engagement is the first in a series of consultations planned across the north-eastern regions. It aims to strengthen relations between the commission and regional leadership and establish a direct channel for engagement on public service matters.
Nandango said regional councils and institutions are key partners in public service administration.
He urged political leaders to engage the commission constructively on human resource challenges, noting that political leadership and public service administration should complement each other.
“The intention is therefore not to separate political leadership from the administration but to ensure that the respective roles complement one another.”
He emphasised that political leadership should provide the necessary support, while professional human resource processes ensure fairness, consistency, and compliance with public service procedures.
Nandango also stressed that fairness, accountability, and respect for established procedures are essential for maintaining harmonious working relationships and improving service
