NBC Director-General Menesia Muinjo has emphasised the importance of inclusive faith-based content across all the corporation’s platforms.
She made the remarks during a visit by the Victory Family Centre at the NBC headquarters.
Muinjo stated that, despite the national broadcaster providing airtime and platforms for various faith-based programmes, there is need to ensure a balance of content that promotes positive values and contributes to the transformation of communities.
While recognising the impact of the broadcaster in informing, educating and entertaining the nation, the Victory Family Centre, Regional Missions Director for Southern Africa, Bishop Danny Banda, raised the concern of a lack of formal training for many church leaders.
He announced the Global Transformation Network and the development of a regional hub in Okahandja, which will serve as a training center for pastors and leaders to ensure proper theological training and prevent community division caused by untrained leadership.
The center also focused on partnering with the NBC on various upliftment programmes, including an upcoming conference titled "Victory in Southern Africa" scheduled to take place from 19 to 22 November.
The conference aims to support the development of the regional hub in Okahandja.
“If you go to the north, you will find that some churches are not even allowed to operate in certain villages because of how some leaders represent the Gospel. We therefore felt the need to establish a regional hub and open a training center where pastors can receive proper training,” added Dr Banda.
The visit also featured the presentation of a Leadership Bible to the Director General, congratulating her on her new role and wishing her success as she leads the organisation into a new era.
