The Namibia Sports Commission has added four nominees to the Namibia Annual Sport Awards shortlist following a review by the judges' committee of the initial nominations announced on 14 October 2026, ahead of the ceremony scheduled for 14 November 2026 at the Mercure Hotel in Windhoek.

The panel introduced the additions across three categories to ensure accuracy, fairness, and overall integrity in the adjudication process for the 22nd edition of the national awards.

,Patrick Esterhuizen and Adonis-Byl Britt were added to the Umpire/Referee of the Year category, while Namibian Broadcasting Corporation Sport journalist Hileni Matheus joined the nominees for Sports Journalist of the Year. Rooi Jerome Jeromuis was included in the Sportsman of the Year with a Disability category.

Award Judge Lesley Tjiueza explained that the nomination process involved multiple phases, noting that the latest review identified candidates who had narrowly missed the initial list but fully qualified on merit.

Tjiueza emphasized that rectifying the oversights was essential to maintaining transparency and safeguarding the panel's credibility, especially as the nomination files moved to the auditing phase prior to the main ceremony. He confirmed that this latest review represents the final assessment phase, completing the official shortlist.

With her inclusion, Matheus will compete for Sports Journalist of the Year alongside NBC Sport colleagues Michelle Shapange and Ester Nekwiyu, as well as Limba Mupetami of New Era and Brian Munango of Namibia Media Holdings.

In the Sportsman of the Year with a Disability category, Roii Jeromuis, representing the Namibia National Paralympic Committee, will compete against fellow NNPC athlete Ananias Shikongo, alongside Moses Fredricks and Muzuvee Katjivive of Disability Sport Namibia.

Esterhuizen and Britt join Antsino Twanyanyukwa of the Namibia Football Association, Emily Durand of the Namibia Aquatic Federation, and Ingo Oosthuizen of Martial Arts Namibia in the Umpire/Referee of the Year category.

The 2026 edition features 24 categories and 131 shortlisted finalists, reflecting an expansion from the 111 nominees recognized last year.
