At least six people have been killed, and 10 remain missing after Cyclone Arnab triggered deadly landslides and widespread flooding in India's eastern state of Odisha.

Footage filmed in Kandhamal district on Sunday shows vehicles halted before a damaged bridge as locals survey the destruction.

Floodwater rushes through a landslide-hit area strewn with uprooted trees.

"The landslide has also caused extensive damage to agriculture and large areas of farmland. There have been extensive losses, with houses along the riverbank swept away and around 20 to 25 homes destroyed," stated resident Jagannath Patty.

Rescuers recovered two bodies from Gidipabali on Sunday, with the search for 10 missing villagers continuing on Monday.

With no motorable road to the village, heavy machinery has been unable to reach the site.

"I don't know what to do, and people are wondering whether to stay in the disaster shelters or leave the area."

Another landslide buried a house in Dangesi village, killing farmer Achyuta Pradhan, his wife and their infant son.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced compensation of 400,000 INR (approximately $4,200) for each victim's next of kin.

Hundreds of villages were cut off as rivers overflowed following Cyclone Arnab's landfall in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh on October 28.

State officials said around 118,000 people were affected, with extensive damage to homes, crops and infrastructure.

Authorities have also begun evacuating residents from landslide-prone areas as Cyclone Murasu approaches the Andhra Pradesh coast.
