Crime in Windhoek continues to rise as the Namibian Police recorded five incidences of robbery and one robbery with aggravating circumstances over the past weekend.

A 52-year-old Namibian male was robbed by unknown suspects in Khomasdal's Mercedes Street.

According to the Namibian Police, four unidentified male suspects allegedly threatened the victim with a firearm and knives before robbing him of his property. 

The suspects took N$1, 200.00 in cash and a wallet containing personal documents. 

A burglary was also carried out at a house in Windhoek’s Klein-Windhoek suburb.

Suspected thieves are alleged to have broken into the residential premises and removed a bicycle, a parachute, a helmet, and a Nike bag. The goods are said to have an estimated value of N$94 000.00. 

Another robbery incident was reported at Malaka Draai, Katutura. The police report that a woman was held at knifepoint by unknown suspects and robbed of a Lenovo laptop, a Huawei cellphone, and a handbag. The total value of the items was valued at N$11760.00.

A man was robbed at gunpoint at Katutura’s Single Quarters. The suspect bumped into the victim’s car, pointed a firearm at the victim, and took his car keys, a wallet containing N$1000.00, and a cell phone valued at N$7000.00.

Another robbery also took place at Khomasdal Hyper shopping centre, where unknown suspects allegedly held a man at gunpoint and demanded his ATM card, after which he withdrew N$300.00.

No arrests have been made regarding all the incidents.
