The long wait for the return of top-flight league football in the country is over, after the Namibia Football Association's Normalisation Committee announced the opening fixtures of the Namibia Premier Football League on Wednesday.

As per the just-announced fixtures, there won't be any matches on Friday, the 4th of November as previously announced. The opening matches will only start on Saturday, the 5th of November at Walvisbay, Okahandja, Windhoek and Otjiwarongo.

Blue Waters and Citizens will be the first to kick a ball in the top tier league at the coast after a three-year absence. Their match will be followed by an encounter between Eleven Arrows and Civics at the same venue.

In Windhoek, Orlando Pirates will host Rundu's Julinho Sporting, before Tigers face Life Fighters.

Elswhere in the capital on the opening day, Unam students are set to welcome Young Brazilians from Karasburg, to be followed by the showdown between Tura Magic and African Stars.

At the garden town of Okahandja, home team Okahandja United will be up against Black Africa, while at Otjiwarongo, Mighty Gunners will host Young African.

On Sunday the teams will exchange opponents at the different towns in round 2 of the opening weekend.
