WHATSAPP OUTAGE | WhatsApp services went back online after more than an hour-long global outage that left millions of WhatsApp users across the globe unable to send or receive messages.
The outage resulted in users not being able to send and receive text and video messages.
WhatsApp and its parent company, Meta, did not immediately say what had happened and only posted a brief update that it was working to restore services.
"We're aware that some people are currently having trouble sending messages, and we're working to restore WhatsApp for everyone as quickly as possible," a Meta company spokesperson said in a statement.
In October 2021, platforms owned by Facebook parent company Meta suffered a global outage, leaving WhatsApp down along with Facebook Messenger.
That outage lasted for several hours, and the company later said it had been caused by incorrect configuration changes to its routers.
