In commemoration of karate day, members of the Okinawa Goju-Ryu dojo hosted the annual 100 kata challenge this past weekend at the Action Arena Volleyball Field in Windhoek.

The karate event, which was hosted to celebrate the beauty and grace of the iconic martial art, took place with over 130 participants in attendance for the 100 kata challenge.

Karatekas from all age groups - each with the intention to come together as one-  performed a choreographed sequence of individual techniques of kata.

All participants managed to complete the challenge of 100 kata, driven by their eagerness to push through.

The 100 kata challenge also served as an annual fundraising event to provide financial support to local instructors as well as to bring senior level international instructors to Namibia in 2023
