Khomas Governor Vendaapi McLeod-Katjirua has called on Namibians to engage in more apple production, both as a source of income and for its nutritional and health benefits.
The governor was attending the official opening of a training program on the plantation of the Wambugu Apple, a fruit that originated in Kenya.
Wambugu Apple Director Teresa Mumbi told nbc News that this apple can grow in any type of soil in any country and encouraged Namibians to embark on its cultivation.
More than a hundred participants flocked to the Habitant Research Center to grasp the knowledge.
The training was organized by the Son Development Program, run by Jessy Katjimune in partnership with the Khomas Regional Council and the Wambugu Apple Project from Kenya.
