The national rugby side, better known as the Welwitschias, went down to the Griquas by 18 to 33 in the first installment of the Dr Hage Geingob Project Rugby Cup contested in Windhoek on Saturday.

The match played in front of a sizeable crowd and attended by the Head of State Dr Hage Geingob and other dignitaries did not go the Welwitschias' way as many thought would be the case.

Things turned out to be one-sided as the visitors were in the thick of things scoring the tries at ease.

With two European test matches to come up against Spain on the 12th of November and one on the 19th of November against Canada  in the Netherlands - a whole lot of of changes are needed by coach Allister Coetzee and his supoort stuff.

There are many facets that need to be turned around if tries are to come the Welwitschias' way.

After playing catch-up it was too little too late for the home team as Griquas emerged as the winners 33 to 18 - leaving the Welwitschias with more questions than answers gpoing ahead.
