The Chairperson of the Council of Traditional Leaders, Gaob Immanuel ǂNu-Axa |Gaseb has called on communities not to confuse traditional matters with political affiliations.

ǂNu-Axa |Gaseb says that traditional leaders have a role to play in fostering peace and harmony in the country, so differences along cultural lines and political affiliations should not make them enemies.
 
"Traditional authorities operate within the mandate of the law that governs them. Therefore, we should refrain from mixing the two. It is because of political affiliations and power greed that our traditional communities resort to disputes over succession."

On the issue of genocide, |Gaseb assured the Damara-speaking Namibians that they would not be left behind in the negotiations on genocide with Germany.
