There are only two days left before the country's sportsmen and women will be celebrated and honoured for their outstanding performances.

For the first time in the history of the Namibia Annual Sport Awards, Lüderitz in the //Karas region will host the event.

The event will be staged at the Lüderitz Waterfront Auditorium, formerly known as the Old Power Station, situated in the heart of the harbour town.

Lüderitz Waterfront Development Company Chief Executive Officer Fluksman Samuel is assuring the public and organizers of the readiness of the now styled and historical building that will house about 300 expected guests for the 18th edition of the awards.

The support team is on the ground getting the venue ready for Saturday. Beside the sport awards being hosted at this venue, the sea-view building's southern wing will soon house the Namibia University of Science & Technology Lüderitz campus.

Established in 1911, the building has changed ownership over the years. In 2010 the Lüderitz Waterfront Development Company took over from the town Council.

In 2018 the sport awards were held at the Dome at Swakopmund in the Erongo region while in 2019 the 16th edition was held in the Oshana region at Ondangwa.
